Uncle Ray’s Gourmet Peanut Brittle
Ray Miller of Hilliard, Ohio holds a BS, MS, and Ph. D in Agricultural Education from Ohio State. After holding the position of Assistant Dean, Student Affairs in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences for 22 years, Ray retired in 2002. Ray began making the brittle as a family Christmas gift and for a few friends. After taking batches to bowl game events, several people began asking if they could buy some. It became a staple item at his annual bowl game college event. From there it grew to selling it as a money maker for church mission projects and eventually to several customers around the university community. Ray is currently in his 6th year of production. Due to the humidity in Ohio, he only makes his batches in the fall months. According to Ray, “The recipe is my own just like grandma used to make on the stove top. No microwaves allowed. I make it three pounds at a time. I hope your members will enjoy the taste and flavor during the fall football season”. We will be selling the peanut brittle in its own one pound container for $11.50. For those interested in ordering, please contact Betsey Bricker at betz@hotmail.com. |
