2009 Alumni Scholarship RecipientCongratulations to Jamie Marino! Jamie, a 2009 graduate of Francis Howell High School, was selected by the Ohio State Alumni Club of St. Louis as this year's Alumni Scholar recipient. The merit-based scholarship is awarded annually by the St. Louis Alumni Club to a promising local high school student who will be attending Ohio State in the Fall. Jamie was accepted into the honors program at Ohio State and plans to continue her education in the fields of nutrition and psychology. Her plan is to become a licensed dietician and eventually open a wellness center for overweight teens and young adults. She wants to make an impact on her generation by motivating people to be healthy and successful. Update from Jamie 12/19/2009: I hope everything is going well, including your holday. My break is going very well so far. Since I just finished my first quarter at OSU I thought I would say hello and give you a little update on how things are going. Thank you again for all of the support from the alumni group. This quarter I enjoyed myself there very much. I live in Taylor Tower, on the corner of Lane and High. I absolutely love campus and I can't wait to go back. The classes I took this quarter were Chemistry, Psychology, a drawing class, and a freshman survey class. Finals were pretty intense but I walked away with a 4.0 for the quarter. Don't worry too much, I made sure to have enough time for fun! I went to 5 football games. I think thats pretty good for not having had tickets ahead of time! I drove to the Indiana game and met with a friend who goes there and I was at the Iowa game and saw the fans rush the field for the first time. I also partipated in a few traditions, specifically Mirror Lake Night. I truly adore this OSU so much, I'm thinking about looking into becoming a tour guide for high school student tours in my spare time! Anyway, thanks again for everything! I attached a picture of my roomates and I at a game. Maybe I will run into you celebrating a Rose Bowl victory at Buffalo Wild Wings! |
